AROHWS
Air Rescue One Heli Winch Society (AROHWS) is a benevolent registered charity dedicated to helping save lives. AROHWS was formed in 2017 to fundraise, promote, and provide delivery of the regional Air Rescue One Program (AR1). AR1 is a Class D helicopter Rescue program that serves the Thompson Okanagan Region through local SAR teams.
AROHWS was formed by the volunteer members of the AR1 Team and passionate members of the community. AROHWS provides flight crew, aircraft, rescue winch, and medical rescue specialists to emergencies across the interior of BC. AROHWS delivers the rescue program through partnerships with SAR teams and other government agencies.
Fundraising allows AROHWS to:
provide helicopter rescue training to helicopter rescue specialists, paramedics, rescue winch operators, regional resource SAR members, regional fire departments, and other first responders.
provide rescue equipment that makes the missions possible. This includes stretchers, cardiac monitors, rope rescue equipment, swift water equipment, and medical supplies.
program delivery of the AR1 program including scheduling, base management, human resource management, financial planning, equipment inspections, equipment maintenance and daily readiness operations, rescue helicopter, and rescue winch.

Our Goal.
The AR1 program has saved hundreds of lives over the years. The goal of AROHWS is to provide our rescue service 24hrs a day, 365 days a year. To achieve our goal, AROHWS has secured a dedicated winch equipped helicopter year round, maintains a fully trained and equipped rescue crew, and operates an efficient, specialized rescue organization. We have attained 365 day operations with our new, dedicated rescue helicopter. We hope to achieve 24 hour operations in the next year with your continued support.
Supporting AR1.
AROHWS is partially funded through task revenue, but this amount falls far short of funding the needs of the rescue program. AROHWS relies heavily on the generosity of the community to help fund the shortfall. This allows the rescue program to keep saving lives every day. With your help, we can reach our goals and help people in their hour of need.
